INFRASTRUCTURE ASSESSMENT
With the constant addition of new equipment, applications, and services, today's networks are always changing and administrators need to continually assess the capability of their networks and infrastructure to support these changes.
By continuously monitoring calls, applications, and other network traffic, the Brix System lets administrators develop performance baselines for individual locations, configurations, times of the day, and days of the week. Not only do these baselines provide important input for capacity planning initiatives, but they also highlight the impact of a new service such as VoIP by objectively quantifying its effect on existing applications and also the influence of existing applications on the new VoIP service.
Prior to rolling out a VoIP service, administrators can also use the Brix System to proactively test the capacity of their signaling and delivery infrastructure by precisely emulating calls using the same protocols and characteristics as their new VoIP service. These characteristics include the number and length of inbound and outbound calls, desired codecs, signaling protocol, and QoS levels.
Used together, developing baselines and proactive capacity testing provide network administrators with powerful, continuous visibility into the current and future capacity of their networks and infrastructure.
